Closed sign
Free printable temporarily closed sign
Create a temporary closure sign or make a back-soon sign.
A closed sign should answer the customer's first question: when can they come back? Use this template for lunch breaks, short appointments, holiday closures, staff training, private events, weather closures, or any temporary change in service.
When the reopening date is unknown
TEMPORARILY CLOSED
Please check back for reopening updates.
Thank you for your understanding.
Use this wording and add a contact number or update location that you actively maintain. Avoid “back soon” if you cannot estimate when service will resume.
When you have a confirmed return time
Include both the day and time: “Reopening Monday, October 5 at 9 AM” is clearer than “Back Monday.” For a short break, “Back today at 1:30 PM” tells visitors whether it is worth waiting. Check the date and weekday together before printing.
Print a closed sign or save a PDF
Edit the template, select A4 or US Letter, and use Print / Save PDF. Choose Save as PDF in the browser print dialog to keep a copy, or choose your printer. Turn off browser headers and footers and check the print preview before confirming.
Place the notice beside your regular business hours so visitors can distinguish the temporary change. If only a machine or service is unavailable, use an out of order sign rather than suggesting the entire business is closed.
Useful wording examples
- Closed for lunch. Back at 1:30 PM.
- Closed today for staff training. Reopening tomorrow at 9 AM.
- Closed for a private event. Regular hours resume Monday.
- Online bookings are still open.
Put the return time or reopening date in the largest detail area. If there is an online booking page, phone number, or alternate entrance, include it as the small note.
